The Job

• Commission and produce engagingdigital-first digital journalism that isaccurate impartial and impactful.
• Identifyand lead coverage of breaking news and key stories with a strong Queensland perspective.
• Oversee complex digital content creation including visual and interactive storytelling.
• Use analytics to guide editorial decisions and provide feedback across platforms.
• Manage and mentor a team of digital producers including recruitment coaching and performance reviews.
• Lead thecontinualdigitaltransformation of the newsroom embracingnew technologiesand change initiatives.
• Maintain budget and roster oversight to ensure efficient resource use.
• Resolve editorial technical and production issues to deliver reliable news services.

About You

Youre a strategic and creative newsroom leader with a deep understanding of digital journalism and a passion for telling stories that reflect the diversity of Queensland. You thrive in fast-paced environments inspire teams and know how to deliver impactful content across platforms.

Youll have:

• Extensive experience in digital news production including newsgathering visual journalism social video and interactive storytelling.
• A proven track record in leading and mentoring teams with the ability to manage staff effectively under pressure.
• Advanced knowledge of multi-platform journalism and audience engagement strategies.
• Strong editorial judgement and the ability to make sound decisions quickly.
• Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to build strong relationships across teams and stakeholders.
• The ability to source and maintain contacts across a broad cross-section of the Australian community.
