The Team
Government Communications and Public Engagement (GCPE) is a dynamic progressive organization that supports the government in its ongoing dialogue with British Columbians. GCPE leads and coordinates government communications and public engagement through three divisions: Communications and Media Relations Division Strategic Communications Division and Corporate Services Division. The Communications and Media Relations Division is responsible for the communications management and coordination of corporate priority files of government and provides strategic coordination of daily issues-based communications activities to meet governments communications requirements for issues management.

The Role
Under the guidance of the Director this position: identifies items of significance to the Government of BC; selects print broadcast online and social media content for publication; catalogues records and archives material; and carries out archival research. This position determines the appropriate government recipients for specific media coverage. This requires the editor to be knowledgeable of issues facing and of interest to government as well as government initiatives and programs to properly select and identify items of significance.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary program (i.e.: Certificate level) in Office Administration Medical or Legal Transcription Writing English or a related field and six (6) months or more related transcription experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience must include the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in transcription (e.g.: of audio/video content).
  • Experience as an administrative professional in a formal office environment.
  • Experience working in a high volume fast paced time sensitive work environment.
  • Experience independently coordinating and executing your work.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience using Mac computers.

About this Position:
This position is excluded from union membership.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
There is one (1) part time temporary opportunity available until July 31 2026 with the possibility of extension and/or the position becoming permanent.
This position will work minimum 20 hours per week with the potential to work full time hours (35 hours per week).
Work hours begin as early as 3:30 am and end as late as 10:00 pm each weekday and 6:00 am to 8:00 pm weekends including statutory holidays. On occasion the incumbent may be required to perform duties outside of the positions normal working hours.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
