Introduction
The Maryland Commission on Civil Rights (MCCR) is the agency responsible for enforcement of anti-discrimination and civil rights laws for the State of Maryland. MCCR is charged with investigating and administratively processing complaints that allege discrimination in employment housing public accommodations and the States commercial non-discrimination policy.
This position is for the Employment/Alternative Dispute Resolution Unit (ADR).

POSITION DUTIES
The supervisor ensures the proper and timely processing of discrimination complaints through supervision of staff assigned to the unit.
Directs and supervises all of the functions of the Unit including but not limited to:
- Reviews all inquiries and charges taken in the Unit
- Reviews the investigation of all cases assigned to the Unit.
- Audits all pending and resolution reports for accuracy.
- Monitors the community education activities of the Unit.
- Monitors the facilities and supplies for the Unit.
- Conducts a site review of field office quarterly
Directs and supervises Unit personnel regarding:
- Defines each job function in accordance with employees MS 22.
- Provides all training direction and support as needed to enable employees to achieve performance goals.
- Evaluates employees in a fair timely accurate and constructive manner in accordance with personnel policy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Six years of professional work experience investigating alleged discrimination complaints and negotiating agreements to settle discrimination complaints in housing employment and public accommodations.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional work experience investigating alleged discrimination complaints and negotiating to settle discrimination complaints in housing employment and public accommodations for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute additional years of administrative staff work experience on a year-to-year basis for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in General Legal and Administrative classifications or General Legal and Administrative specialty codes in the Legal field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicantswho possess the following preferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications.- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying State and Federal civil rights laws (e;g; title VII ADA FHA Title VI ADEA MD State Government Article 20 etc.).
- Experience with investigative procedures case management systems and evidentiary standards.
- Experience leading mentoring and motivating diverse investigative teams in a high-volume mission-driven environment.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution experience.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
