Position Summary
The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing developing programming and commissioning automation control systems. This includes creating and modifying PLC and HMI programs (Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley Siemens and others) and designing electrical control panels using AutoCAD. The ideal candidate has 35 years of controls engineering experience strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage multiple projects independently from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Design and program PLC and HMI systems using Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) Siemens and other industrial platforms.
Create update and maintain AutoCAD electrical schematics for control panel design and layout.
Manage project lifecycles including design documentation programming testing and commissioning.
Perform on-site installation start-up and commissioning (domestic / international travel 3040%).
Provide remote and field technical support via phone email or site visits.
Collaborate with customers to assess application needs and propose control solutions.
Maintain accurate technical documentation and project records.
Support internal panel shop testing and troubleshooting as needed.
Uphold safety quality and compliance standards on all projects.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering Automation Mechatronics or equivalent technical experience.
35 years of experience in industrial controls engineering.
Proficiency in PLC / HMI programming (Rockwell Automation Siemens TIA Portal FactoryTalk View etc.).
Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar design tools.
Strong knowledge of industrial control systems motion control sensors pneumatics and networking.
Excellent troubleshooting communication and project management skills.
Ability to work independently prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Capable of lifting 40 lbs and climbing ladders.
Valid drivers license and proof of insurance required.
