Overview
Position is responsible for the instruction of Medical Terminology course work.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for instruction on the component parts of medical terms: prefixes suffixes and word roots.
- Responsible for instruction on operative diagnostic therapeutic and symptomatic terminology of all body systems as well as systemic and surgical terminology.
- Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies including but not limited to MyEd Choice face-to-face and online course delivery.
- Participate in in-service meetings staff development training or other activities or programs requested by the division.
- Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments tests grades course content career concerns and other academic matters.
- Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing record keeping advanced standing providing grades on a timely basis evaluating student performance and maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling etc.
- Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the colleges mission vision and values.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication and strong problem solving skills.
- Ability to interact with diverse populations.
- Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
Education Requirements:
- Associate degree in a health-related field that leads to employment in a patient care facility such as a hospital or clinic.
OR
- Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences Nursing Health Sciences Animal Science or related field.
OR
- Employment in a patient care facility such as a hospital or clinic combined with education training and tested experience preparing a person for the occupation totalling 7 years or 14000 hours.
Ocupational Requirements:
- 2 years or 4000 hours in a target job for the course or courses being taught of which at least 1 year (2000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to the date of appointment.
- 1 year (2000 hours) of related occupational experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years prior to the date of appointment.
- 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience means 8 semesters of part-time teaching or 4 semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited post-secondary degree granting institution.
