Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) provides direct patient care to critically ill adult patients requiring complex assessment high-intensity therapies and continuous monitoring. The RN is responsible for delivering evidence-based nursing care collaborating with the interdisciplinary team and ensuring the highest level of patient safety and outcomes in a fast-paced technologically advanced ICU environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in accordance with established hospital protocols and nursing standards.
- Assess plan implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Administer medications manage ventilators and monitor hemodynamic parameters.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians respiratory therapists and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans procedures and ongoing care needs.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations using advanced critical care techniques.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all patient care activities.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and professional development.
Required Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent Acute Care RN experience (within the last 3 years).
- Prefer experience in higher-acuity settings (e.g. Stepdown ICU).
- Strong Med/Surg RNs will be considered.
- Licensure:
- Active Florida RN license or approved multistate (compact) RN license required.
- Compact license holders must obtain a Florida license within 60 days of relocation.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS AHA) must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of start date.
