Title: Operational Technology (OT) Cyber Security Specialist
Location: Jersey City NJ (Onsite)
The Port Authority is actively seeking an OT Cyber Security Specialist to help bolster its cyber security
posture across the Agencys vast critical infrastructure architecture. The successful candidate will
collaborate closely with multiple project teams such as the OT Disaster Recovery and the Vulnerability Remediation Teams as well as Line Department operations staff to define test and manage effective risk mitigation plans procedures and infrastructure to reduce risk exposure and to minimize downtime in the event of a cyber security incident impacting these systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
General OT Network Support
Assist with installing configuring and maintaining network hardware and software (switches routers firewalls industrial protocols).
Experience with maintaining and configuring network equipment within an OT network.
Monitor network performance to minimize downtime.
Create and update network diagrams documentation and configuration records.
Work with network management and senior engineers on security projects where OT networks are
involved.
Review existing network configurations for security compliance and assist in implementing prescribed cybersecurity controls.
Travel to remote sites for hands-on support as needed.
Participate in the design new OT networks ensuring security is the focus.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices relevant to OT and industrial networking. General OT Security Project Management Support
Understanding of project management tasks and responsibilities related to scope schedule and
budget.
Support project managers in defining project scope goals and deliverables related to OT security.
Assist with planning and scheduling project activities milestones and resources for security upgrades and deployments.
Track progress and maintain documentation on OT security controls policies and technical solutions.
Help coordinate efforts among technical teams vendors and operational site stakeholders to ensure objectives are met.
Monitor compliance with security regulations standards and corporate security policies and report
deviations or risks.
Facilitate status meetings provide project updates and communicate issues or delays to management and relevant teams.
Support budgeting procurement and resource allocation for security initiatives.
Assist with risk assessments and mitigation planning for OT environments.
Maintain and update playbooks implementation plans and security documentation for ongoing and future projects.
Support implementation and testing of security measures (i.e. patching access management policy updates) within OT networks.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Certification (one or more preferred):
1. Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
2. ICS410: ICS/SCADA Security Essentials
3. SCADAHacker (ICSCSI)
4. Disaster Recovery Certified Specialist (DRCS)
5. IEC 62443 OT Security Expert Certificate (ISA/IEC)
Skills and Experience (General and Technical):
1. Minimum 2 5 years professional experience focused on Operational Technology and security.
2. Demonstrated expertise specifically in OT systems (SCADA ICS DCS PLC) including an understanding of network architectures industrial communications protocols and operational technologies.
3. Project Management experience managing technology projects from start to completion.
4. Hands-on experience with network vulnerability scanning and asset monitoring tools.
5. Working knowledge of disaster recovery methodologies best practices and tools within critical
infrastructure.
6. Ability to work independently to complete an assigned deliverable. Work Environment:
The role will require frequent regional travel in the NY-NJ metropolitan area and on-call physical
availability during significant operational disruptions or planned exercises.
This role requires both home office-based activities (planning documentation) and field/site visits
(system validation testing and implementation). Central office in Jersey City NJ will occasionally be
required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to occasionally work in industrial environments and locations such as control centers and
industrial facilities as required.
