We are urgently seeking a Staff Nurse Outpatients for our hospital in Westmeath Ireland.
Responsibilities
Deliver evidence-based nursing care in the Outpatients Department in accordance with NMBI standards and hospital protocols.
Provide nursing support to consultants and multidisciplinary teams during consultations diagnostic procedures and minor interventions.
Conduct nursing assessments record patient histories and observations accurately and monitor patient conditions escalating concerns as needed.
Perform wound care dressing changes suture/staple removals and assist in minor procedures ensuring recovery areas are safely supervised.
Maintain infection control standards including decontamination and preparation of clinical areas and equipment.
Liaise effectively with consultants administration and nursing colleagues to ensure smooth patient flow and departmental coordination.
Provide patient education discharge instructions and health promotion information to support understanding and compliance.
Adhere to professional ethical and legal standards maintaining patient dignity confidentiality and accountability at all times.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives clinical audits risk management and the implementation of infection prevention and control measures.
Engage in professional development mandatory training reflective practice and support the education and mentoring of students and newly qualified staff.
Requirements
Registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Minimum of one year post-registration nursing experience preferably in an acute hospital or Outpatients Department.
Completion of or currently pursuing a recognised post-registration course (e.g. ambulatory care outpatient nursing wound management or similar) is desirable.
Up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Life Support (ALS) is desirable.
Demonstrated competence in clinical assessment wound care and infection prevention and control.
Excellent communication interpersonal and organisational skills.
Proficiency in information technology and electronic patient record systems.
Submission of current NMBI Registration (PIN) annually to HR in January.
