Job Summary

RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for domestic and overseas candidates across hospitals nursing homes home care and community care.

We are urgently seeking a Staff Nurse Pre-Assessment for our hospital in Westmeath Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments including medical history medication review allergies and functional status.

  • Organise and coordinate required diagnostic investigations reviewing results in consultation with the medical team.

  • Identify clinical risks or abnormalities and escalate appropriately to the Anaesthetist or relevant Consultant.

  • Provide patients with pre-operative information fasting instructions and post-operative care guidance.

  • Document all assessments accurately maintaining patient records to hospital and NMBI standards.

  • Liaise effectively with Anaesthetists Surgeons Endoscopy teams GPs and other healthcare professionals to optimise patient care.

  • Support surgical list coordination and efficient scheduling of patients.

  • Work within NMBI Scope of Practice adhering to hospital policies protocols and national guidelines including infection control standards.

  • Participate in reporting investigation and review of clinical incidents as well as quality assurance programmes and audits.

  • Engage in continuing professional development mandatory training and mentoring of junior staff maintaining a professional development portfolio.






Requirements

  • Registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

  • Minimum of one years recent post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting.

  • Previous experience in Pre-Assessment Theatre Endoscopy Anaesthetic or Day Surgery is desirable.

  • Well-developed interpersonal and organisational skills.

  • Proven clinical ability and awareness of risk management.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Competent in the use of information technology.

  • Hold an up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate or be in pursuit of one.

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
