Scotiabank is looking for a Senior Project Manager Strategic Initiatives with a team-oriented mind set and a critical thinker with a passion for solving business this high-impact role you will drive operational discipline coordinate key initiatives for the Canadian Banking Engineering team. You will operate at the intersection of strategy governance and execution ensuring that decisions translate into measurable results and that the team delivers on its commitments on key Modernization Initiatives.
This position will be reporting to the Director Strategy & Operations Canadian Banking Technology uniting the leadership team aligning stakeholders and ensuring decisions translate into meaningful action. This position works closely with senior leadership technology leaders and a diverse set of stakeholders to deliver on our strategic goals while improving team efficiency.
Is this role right for you In this role you will:
Own modernization portfolio oversight: Manage the investment envelope across Fund the Future Stability and Modernization ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
Drive financial stewardship: Oversee SIP financials forecasts and benefits tracking; reconcile actuals and outlooks with Finance and EPMO.
Lead executive reporting cadence: Prepare monthly updates for senior leadership (CIO/SVP) including portfolio dashboards marquee program status and risk signals.
Manage escalation and unblock playbook: Identify Yellow/Red risks coordinate cross-team remediation and maintain SLAs for resolution.
Track strategic initiatives: Monitor delivery milestones KPIs and dependencies; enforce governance and change control.
Support leadership operating rhythm: Coordinate modernization reviews decision logs and quarterly deep dives on benefits and risk themes.
Develop insights and recommendations: Analyze trends variances and lead indicators to inform decision-making and optimize portfolio performance.
Champion modernization value realization: Validate benefits achieved (cost savings resiliency improvements technical debt reduction) and communicate impact to stakeholders.
Build strong relationships: Partner with domain leaders Finance EPMO and enterprise teams to ensure transparency and collaboration.
Gather data and perform financial analyses to diagnose issues.
Coordinate responses to enterprise requests ensuring alignment in messaging and priorities.
Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards in all communications and decision-making processes.
Champion the institutions values fostering a culture of transparency accountability and inclusivity.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role Wed love to work with you if you have:
8 years experience in technology portfolio management modernization governance or technology finance within a large enterprise.
Undergraduate degree in Business Finance or Engineering; MBA is an asset.
Proven experience supporting senior executives with portfolio reporting and strategic oversight.
Strong financial acumen (forecasting accruals benefit modeling) and ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
Exceptional organizational and planning skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced communication skills including executive briefings and presentation development.
High level of discretion and political acumen; trusted to manage sensitive information.
Familiarity with Canadian banking technology landscape and modernization constructs (Fund the Future Stability Simplification) is a plus.
Proficiency with MS Office Power BI and planning tools (Apptio Anaplan).
