The Atelierista possesses a background in visual arts music or computer science. The role entails
supporting childrens creativity and learning and assisting children in introducing different ways to
express themselves. The Atelierista works with children and team members in the atelier to
provide STEAM experiences designed to engage students in the processes of investigation and
inquiry to discover new information. The Atelierista is not only an art/technology teacher but
also contributes to program projects in many ways as they consider teachers and students their
internal customers in the process of knowledge construction.
Responsibilities:
Request materials for the month
Follow the curriculum guidelines and teach the lesson plans in the curriculum ensuring
that there is a broad range of creative experiences available for the children at all times
Provide a stimulating environment for children and staff to work on long-term projects
and providing a wide range of materials giving children the opportunity to express
themselves through as many languages as possible
Assist the Director in developing staff awareness of working with children to encourage their
learning through creative expression individually and as part of a group
Developing staff understanding of the documentation process
Providing training for other staff and monitoring their progress on an ongoing basis
Producing documentation boards
Encourage children to experiment in creative ways and to innovate
Nurture kids excitement for discovery and help them make connections between what
they know and could know
Encourage teachers and students to learn in new ways nurturing their identity of the next
generation of learners
Assist teachers and students in preparing the PBL presentation for the parents
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years old
Degree required
Experience in art and technology
Experience working in an educational setting (preferred)
