DESCRIPTION:Southeastern is seeking a dedicated & passionateMultilingual Paraprofessional to join our team. As a multilingual paraprofessional you will work closely with the teachers to support the delivery of a comprehensive & enriching educational program.
OUR STUDENTS:Southeastern is a diverse multicultural vocational technical high school which serves over 1700 students. The students balance the rigors of a complete academic course of studies with technical skill training in over 20 career majors. Our students are prepared for college career and/or additional technical training
upon graduation.
POSITION SUMMARY:The multilingual paraprofessional works with the vocational and academic teachers to ensure that all students succeed. Paraprofessionals provide students with additional support assist the vocational and academic teachers in maintaining a safe learning environment and tailor activities to meet the individual needs of position will also support multilingual families and students with translation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
- Support multilingual learners in the academic and vocational classroom to access curriculum content and to build language proficiency.
- Communicate with families (phone calls and meetings) who speak Spanish to assist in the Translation Center to encourage two-way communication and a sense of belonging for multilingual families.
- Translate documents emails and other documents as required in Spanish.
- Build positive rapport with students to encourage achievement and effort.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fluency in Spanish.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong work ethic a positive attitude and a genuine interest in working with multilingual high school students.
- Prior experience working as a paraprofessional and/or working with multilingual students (preferred not required).
- Ability to use technology in support of student learning; or
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications that the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
COMPENSATION:Paraprofessionals are school-year employees paid in 21 equal installments from September - June or from the initial start to the end date.
