The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UW-La Crosse is dedicated to excellence in undergraduate and outreach education in a welcoming and inclusive environment. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at theUniversity of Wisconsin-La Crosse(UWL) seeking a dynamic teacher-scholar at the Assistant Professor level to join its top-rated program in August 2025. The department strives to maintain an inclusive and collegial working and learning environment for our faculty staff and students and we welcome applicants who share our commitment to these values. Our new colleague will teach lecture and laboratory courses in the core curriculum along with advanced elective courses in their areas of expertise. Candidates with a background in inorganic chemistry (broadly defined) are encouraged to apply. Departmental needs include but are not limited to areas of catalysis materials nuclear bioinorganic and coordination chemistry. We seek a scholar to develop an active research program involving undergraduates. Laboratory research expertise which may include interdisciplinary areas is preferred. Our department and college maintain a large array of moderninstrumentation resources including research and teaching laboratories in the state-of-the-art Prairie Springs Science Center.
Under general supervision of the department chair a person in this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses within the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry curriculum to both majors and non-majors while developing courses within the persons area of addition to preparing for and holding classes teaching involves staying current in the content area related to the teaching assignment evaluating students work assessing student outcomes maintaining appropriate records and holding office hours. The individual is expected to maintain an active program of scholarship that involves undergraduate students and is expected to serve as an academic advisor to addition this individual is expected to provide service to the department college university community and/or the profession. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.
