The opportunity we have available

The Conduct and Performance team provide specialist advice and support to the department to maintain a positive and respectful workplace culture while ensuring effective performance is met and underpinned by ethical behaviour integrity and psychological safety. The team have an APS6 Senior Case Manager position available for a suitable candidate who can act with integrity and provide specialist advice support and resources to enable staff and managers to resolve conduct and performance matters effectively and in line with legislative and policy obligations.

What will you do

The role is responsible for the management of performance review of actions and APS Code of Conduct matters including coordination of advice to managers and staff in line with the relevant policies employment procedures guidelines and legislation. The role will assist with the delivery of training and review of Employment Procedures and Guidelines. The role contributes to the Branch purpose empowering leaders to ensure that every employee feels safe and supported.

  • Undertake case management activities related to performance probation review of actions and code of conduct matters including undertaking preliminary assessments.
  • Provide advice to managers and staff on performance probation cases review of actions and code of conduct matters.
  • Assist with review of our employment procedures guidelines template materials and guides.
  • Manage responses for information and reporting.
  • Ensure appropriate records are maintained in accordance with the Departments record keeping standards.
  • Exercise all delegations efficiently effectively ethically and in line with appropriate guidelines.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate their capability against the APS6 Work level standards.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate ability to:

Leadership and Accountability: Provide accurate and specialised advice including anticipating problems and contributing to issues management.

Leadership and Accountability: Ensure knowledge of and compliance with legislative financial and administrative frameworks government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations.

Independence and Decision-Making: Work with independence subject to limited direction against established priorities practices and methodologies to deliver quality outcomes.

Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals.

Stakeholder Management: Develop and support complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Eligibility requirements

Employment with the Department of Infrastructure Transport Regional Development Communications Sport and the Arts is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:

  • Citizenship: candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of submitting your application.
  • Health Assessment: The preferred candidate may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the departments preferred medical provider.
  • Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at baseline. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia or have a checkable background for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.
  • Police check: The successful candidate must satisfactory complete an Australian Federal Police criminal history check.
  • Integrity and Performance check: The successful candidate must satisfy the requirements in an Integrity and Performance check which is completed by your most recent employer.

A selection panel will be established to assess your suitability against the advertised role.

If a merit pool is established it will be valid for 18 months from date it first appeared in the APS Gazette.
