The Buncombe County Emergency Services Department is committed to building a safer more resilient community through proactive mitigation preparedness and recovery initiatives. Our team supports a wide range of projects including FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) administration regional hazard mitigation planning Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) and recovery coordination following emergencies.
We are currently hiring for aPRN (as-needed) positionthat will support these efforts through administrative coordination compliance tracking and stakeholder engagement. This role is scheduled forup to 19 hours per week withflexible schedulingavailable during our normal business hours (Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
The position is based at ourEmergency Services facility located at 164 Erwin Hills Road Asheville NC and reports to the Mitigation Preparedness and Recovery Manager. The selected candidate will join a small collaborative team focused on whole-community resilience.
Interviews are expected to take place in mid-November with atarget start date in early December. We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.

Purpose of the position:
The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the administrative operations and workflow for a department by performing various administrative functions.
Minimum Education Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related field; and two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative support management or closely related experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities will be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.
