Job Summary

Were looking for an experienced Software Engineer II to join Procores central rails this role youll be working within the central rails team that manages one of the largest RoR monoliths on the planet. Youll work alongside top tier engineers offering complex solutions to dependency management projects.

As a Software Engineer II youll partner with Engineering Product and QA to design and build solutions that delight users and solve critical business problems. Use your experience in Object-Oriented Programming fundamentals Ruby on Rails and Service-Oriented Architecture to develop a product that impacts the way communities hospitals homes sports stadiums and schools across the world are built. This position reports into a Software Engineering Manager and will be based in Cairo Egypt office. Were looking for someone to join us immediately.

What youll do:

Work on evolving existing monolithic Rails codebase to the latest Ruby & Rails versions.
Participate in owning the resolving & managing the tooling used for Ruby Rails Gems upgrades to ensure efficiency and completeness.
Participate in building upgrades strategy create & setup dependency management tooling test monitoring tooling execution profiling and effective reporting systems.
Participate in designing and building internal systems that aligns with Procores technical vision of a service-oriented architecture.
Work up and down the stack to ship code for our Rails backend and our React frontend and dive deep into the database layer to handle complex querying needs.
Collaborate with Engineering Product and QA to design and build solutions that delight users and solve critical business problems.
Serve as a leader and mentor to more junior engineers within your team.

What were looking for:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science a related field or comparable work experience.
3 years experience in Object-Oriented Programming fundamentals Test Driven Development and design principles.
Experience working with our stack of Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL.
Experience designing and building software in a Service-Oriented Architecture.
Experience with development in Docker AWS and microservice environments; experience participating in the development of CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
Time-honed expertise with modern web development across the entire spectrum of development testing staging deploying and monitoring.
Track record of anticipating technical problems that will fall out of major projects designing solutions to overcome them and strong experience documenting and bringing team clarity to complex solutions.
A curious mind driven to innovate and solve customer problems coupled with strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
