Job Summary

SUMMARY:

Performs difficult skilled and responsible technical work supervising technicians engaged in electrical heating air-conditioning refrigeration carpentry mechanical plumbing painting welding and other general maintenance repairs. Manages multiple facilities programs and systems including: building security fleet management phone systems and environmental control systems. Manages assigned building construction and renovation projects utilizing in-house resources and contracted services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:

  • Plan organize and direct building maintenance activities including a preventative maintenance program
  • Prepare plans and specifications and negotiate contracts for maintenance construction alterations and repairs of school facilities and grounds
  • Manage the building security program including issuance of staff ID/entry cards and maintenance and operation of the electronic access control system
  • Develop prepare and control the annual maintenance budget
  • Establish and maintain liaison with principals supervisors and central office staff to insure maintenance operations are conducted with minimum interference with the instructional programs
  • Consult with engineers architects and contractors and makes recommendations with respect to the design construction and operations of schools
  • Prepare reports and correspondence and makes presentations relating to school facilities issues
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Director of Operations or designee which are applicable to this position and in accordance with Winchester Public Schools policies and procedures

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Supervises lead-technicians technicians and Operations Specialist

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and have demonstrated the ability to do so through prior experience and training. Must demonstrate considerable knowledge of facilities maintenance activities. Must demonstrate leadership abilities. Must have valid drivers license.

Language Skills: Ability to read analyze interpret develop and implement written directions and building plans. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from building administrators and other customers. Ability to effectively present information to management verbally or in writing.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rates proportions percentages and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding and to apply appropriate and fair judgment in considering information from more than one source. Ability to be objective in solving problems. Ability to consider long term planning and multiple consequences.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high schoolor vocational school. Extensive experience including more than 5 years in a supervisory role in facilities maintenancework is required.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to transport self throughout the school facilities as part of carrying out duties and operate a motor vehicle and other equipment. Frequently required to lift 10 to 20 pounds. May be required to lift more than 20 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The individual works within an indoor environment as well as in an outdoor environment in any potential weather conditions. The individual may have to walk or crawl through tight spaces in order to evaluate facility conditions. The individual will be required to operate a motor vehicle in order to visit schools sites as well as to perform snow removal. SALARY:


Range for the 2025-2026 school year is$80000 to $123198 with benefits.
