What to expect

Our two-year tailored programme will give you the best training experience possible with a full and balanced introduction to the legal profession. Your professional and personal development begins from day one of your induction. You will learn from and be supported by knowledgeable and committed colleagues.

You will enjoy the chance to build both the technical legal skills and complementary skills you need to become a newly qualified solicitor and business advisor.

Throughout the programme you will gain broad exposure to different areas of the firm by moving seat every six months. The training in each seat is front loaded to enable you to quickly develop legal knowledge of each area and take on real responsibility. When you qualify you will have a fully informed idea of which practice areas interest you and can take your career to the next level in your chosen specialism.

To ensure well-rounded development you will have exposure to different practice groups in our Hong Kong office and you will be paired up with an Associate as your mentor and buddy. Their job is to guide support and encourage you throughout the course of your training contract you can look forward to:

  • tasks which will help you to develop your existing knowledge and skills as well as picking up some new ones
  • access to client work whilst being supervised and supported
  • getting involved in a range of additional activities
  • working with and learning from solicitors who are leaders in their respective fields
  • a non-hierarchical structure with the emphasis on approachability and a collegiate working culture

Eligibility Requirements:

  • 2:1 degree already obtained.
  • Have completed PCLL or PCLL to be completed by August 2026.
  • English and Chinese (Mandarin preferable) and other languages preferable (e.g. Japanese / Korean).

A training contract application should include the following:

  1. Cover letter indicating your preferred area of practice
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  3. Current degree transcripts
  4. Academic transcripts at HKDSE / HKCEE (or equivalent)
  5. Any other supporting documentation you consider relevant
  6. Your availability (if any) for a short-term internship.

Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete a short-term internship with us depending on your availability.
