Job Summary

Summary

Metro Transit Finance and Administration Divisionis looking for highly organized customer-focused Financial Accounting and Grants Manager(Transit Section Manager) to join our team. This Financial Accounting and Grants Manager is an integral member of the Finance and Administration team and will lead the financial accounting and grants administration functions for Metro Transit ensuring that the Public Transportation Fund is appropriately reported.

This position will work under the guidance of the Assistant General Manager of Finance & Administration for Metro Transit. As a mobility agency Metro moves hundreds of thousands of people in our region every day helping them get to their destination. We know that mobility connects people to opportunity and that destination is sometimes more than an actual place. It may be a new job a better education a critical medical appointment or a chance to start over. King County Metros budget provides safe equitable and sustainable service now and in the future especially where needs are greatest.

This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Financial Accounting and Grants Manager (Transit Section Manager). In addition this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility pool for future Career Service Special Duty Assignment and Term Limited Temporary vacancies that may occur in this classification within this workgroup. The eligibility pool will be retained for 12 months from the date of posting and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority.

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

Our Financial Accounting and Grants Manager must have:

  • Experience leading teams of technical experts
  • Knowledge of grants management and administration
  • Knowledge of financial accounting techniques and principles
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of auditing and internal control techniques and principles
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and principles
  • Analytical skills
  • Skill in policy analysis and design

Desired Skills or Knowledge:

  • Experience with FTA triennial reviews.
  • Experience with public transportation Grants and Financial Statements.

All Metro Transit Section Managers will also have the following skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience building effective teamsin diverse work environments while creating strong morale instilling vision and purpose and fostering open dialogue.

Selection Process

Work Schedule
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule every other Thursday. Work hours are comprised of a 40-hour work week within core hours of workday normally 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Work Location
The work performed in this position is conducted in a hybrid office environment. Section Managers will be required to be on-site a minimum of three (3) days / week. The primary onsite location is the King Street Center located at 201 South Jackson Street Seattle WA.

Teleworking Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly in a hybrid work environment working in the office and at home. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within areas on able distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
