Our client a leading products and packaging firm is seeking a Technical Associate. Reporting to the Technology Senior Director you will be responsible for conceiving designing and testing new adhesive products as well as conducting trials to ensure successful production transfer and commercialization at customer locations.
What Youll Be Doing:
- Conceive design and test new adhesive or coating products; conduct trials to ensure newly developed products are successfully transferred to production and commercialized at internal and external customer sites.
- Assist sales and business development teams in identifying prospects conducting technical discovery and assessing probability of success. Leverage new technologies and products to reach new customers industry segments and markets.
- Utilize analytical troubleshooting Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and other tools to enhance the performance of existing products reduce manufacturing costs and improve productivity in support of customers business objectives.
- Support the supply chain management team in identifying and qualifying vendors of raw materials and additives.
- Stay up to date with novel technologies in the adhesive industry and assess feasibility for application in client products.
- Lead or support quality assurance functions identifying root causes of quality issues and implementing sustainable improvements at customer locations.
- Maintain complete and accurate records on intellectual property and pursue patent applications or trade secrets as appropriate.
- Effectively communicate project status technical market assessments and recommendations to all stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Chemistry Polymer Science Material Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience formulating water-based adhesives; knowledge of paperboard and food-grade packaging is desirable.
- Proven ability to tackle complex problems and identify feasible or optimal solutions.
- Creative and innovative approach to achieving technical and business objectives.
- Experience leading or participating in multiple cross-functional teams in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable as an individual contributor conducting bench or trial work with minimal supervision.
- Strong work ethic can-do attitude and adaptability.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to adjust style to diverse customers and stakeholders.
