Position Summary
Provides direct patient care on the Medical-Surgical unit using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Communicates effectively with the care team and the patient/family to support safe high-quality outcomes. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
Essential Functions
- Performs plan-of-care interventions including medication administration specimen collection clinical treatments and other medical care activities.
- Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitors records and communicates patient condition to the care team physicians patients and families.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene elimination nutrition ambulation).
- Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers discharges referrals psychosocial/spiritual support).
- Assesses learning needs and delivers age/culture-appropriate patient/family education.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Participates in performance improvement and required continuing education.
- Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may take on-call assignments.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess a bachelors degree or associate degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:
- BLS ACLS TNCC required
- 1 year of experience required
