Description:

This position is located at the University of Hawaii West Oahu (UHWO) under the direct supervision of the Hookele Huakai Naauao Project Director in support of the UHWO-Leeward Community College (LCC) partnership program Ke Ala Anuu: Path of Steps Project a Transfer Students Program. This position works in partnership with UHWOs Admissions/Enrollment units in the UHWO Office for the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs as well as UHWOs Academic Programs through the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. This position also partners with the LCC Chancellors Office and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to support LCC students to connect with UHWO campus admissions registration scheduling advising curricular/academic programs and co-curricular activities. This position focuses their efforts on three primary areas that impact the students journey: (1)strengthening access and preparation of students who enroll and persist in higher education; (2) enhancing teaching and learning experiences that effectively incorporate experiential and diverse modalities; and (3) promoting career pathways and life-long learning that encompasses leadership abilities and holistic skills needed for fulfilling careers and life pursuits. This position will develop programs assessment and evaluation tools and data collection and analysis for program reports.


Duties and Responsibilities (*denotes Essential Functions):

  • *Strengthen the transition and transfer of LCC students to UHWO through targeted career pathways with attention to STEM fields.
  • *Meet with prospective and enrolling transfer students to discuss transfer and enrollment issues.
  • *Strengthen transfer programs at UHWO to engage both academic and student affairs faculty staff and student peers in transforming the student learning experience so as to prepare students for life after college that encompasses productive and contributing careers and community service.
  • *Coordinate with UHWO and LCC partners to implement events that support transfer students in their enrollment processes and transition to UHWO.
  • *Work in collaboration with the Director of Enrollment Management and other campus stakeholders to create propose implement and evaluate a comprehensive variety of approaches strategies policies and practices that facilitate student transfer admissions and enrollment to the campus.
  • *Train assist and monitor admissions and other staff in the transfer articulation process ensuring transfer admissions and registration is conducted in a seamless timely and accurate manner.
  • Confer with appropriate division chairs program directors and faculty in determining transfer pathways.
  • Conduct a variety of individual and group presentations using traditional approaches and electronic mediums to potential applicants applicants family members LCC staff & faculty and the public regarding the LCC to UHWO transfer process.
  • Oversee the integrity of the transfer program materials and presentations and proper dissemination of academic and admissions information.
  • Serve as the primary liaison who consults with division staff campus faculty and others regarding transfer credit issues concerns approval etc.
  • Assist and participate in enrollment management efforts including admission processing registration activities orientation events and other enrollment service activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education Business Social Sciences Liberal Arts or a related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for working with post-secondary transcript evaluations degree audit systems student information systems academic advising admissions or academic records; or any equivalent education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of post-secondary Student Services functions as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standards and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with post-secondary Student Services functions.
  4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide-ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  8. For supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.


Supplemental Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be self-motivated and able to function independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of post-secondary student databases and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel applications.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution in Education Higher Education Administration Counseling or a related field.
  • Three years of professional experience in college admissions enrollment management academic advising or related areas in student affairs.
  • Understanding of Native Hawaiian communities values and culture
