Indigenous Impact Specialist (Identified)

  • Employment Type: Full Time (35 hours per week) however part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
  • Duration: 12-month contract
  • Remuneration: Level 8 $127351 - $143489 (depending on experience) 17% super leave loading
  • Location: Kensington NSW (hybrid)

Why Your Role Matters:

The Division of Societal Impact Equity & Engagement (SIEE) leads UNSWs work to build a diverse inclusive community and drive positive change with our partners across society.

Were seeking an Indigenous Societal Impact Specialist to embed Indigenous knowledges into UNSWs inaugural Societal Impact Framework (SIF) - a university-wide approach to understanding and demonstrating our impact across research education engagement and operations.

In this role youll ensure Indigenous perspectives shape how impact is measured and communicated. Youll collaborate across Faculties and Divisions students and our extended Indigenous communities designing culturally appropriate approaches to data collection analysis storytelling and evaluation. Youll help showcase UNSWs achievements with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and strengthen our collective contribution.

Key focus areas:

  • Embed Indigenous knowledges and perspectives into the SIF.
  • Lead consultations and engagement with Indigenous staff students and communities.
  • Develop culturally appropriate impact measures data practices and storytelling approaches.
  • Collaborate across UNSW to align the SIF with related strategic initiatives related to Indigenous knowledges
  • Produce compelling data visualisations reports and case studies that demonstrate outcomes.
  • Lead a pilot that engages a number of senior stakeholders and iterate based on insights

This role reports to the Director Societal Impact & Evaluation and has no direct reports.

Skills and Experience:

  • This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified position. Applicants must be an Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander person. Confirmation of Aboriginality is required.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience with skills gained through a combination of education training or professional practice. Experience or qualifications in qualitative data analysis social sciences or statistics would be an advantage.
  • Experience working within Indigenous communities and with Indigenous businesses demonstrating knowledge of Indigenous protocols and collecting data.
  • Proven project management experience with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans objectives and documentation.
  • Excellent consultation and facilitation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data from diverse sources
  • Experience with a range of evaluation and data analysis methods relevant to both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Experience working in the higher education sector or with complex organisations is preferable.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
