Material Handling Specialist (Mid Shift) - Harrison OH (Job ID: 1287) Position Summary and Purpose: The Material Handling Specialist plays a key role in coordinating the movement of materials across the entire plant. This is a cross-functional position responsible for performing a wide variety of material handling duties including shipping and receiving order picking and the movement and organization of materials using multiple types of industrial equipment. While approximately 60% of this role involves operating a forklift the remaining time will be spent on stacker crane operations and supporting other material handling activities such as packing freight building skids and preparing large machinery for shipment. This position requires strong attention to detail safe operating practices and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Mid Shift: 11:00 a.m. 7:30 p.m. (8 hours plus a 30-minute lunch break) Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: - Operate a forklift stacker crane side loader pallet jack cart and overhead crane to move materials throughout the facility.
- Receive oral or written work assignments pull and stage materials and identify items by part and lot number.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments using appropriate lifting equipment.
- Pick materials from vertical storage towers and deliver to designated work areas.
- Organize and store plate bar and structural steel in a safe and accessible manner.
- Build skids package parts and components and assist in preparing machines for shipment.
- Perform shipping and receiving transactions in Epicor (ERP) to maintain accurate material records.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe work area in compliance with company standards and quality procedures.
- Flex across functions as needed to ensure continuous material flow throughout the plant.
Education and Experience Required: - High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred: - One (1) year of prior experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
Knowledge Skills and Abilities - General knowledge of forklift crane and material handling equipment operation
- Ability to multitask and follow detailed instructions
- Attention to accuracy and safety in all tasks
- General PC and ERP system knowledge (Epicor preferred)
Tools Technology and Equipment Used Forklifts stacker crane side loader pallet jacks overhead cranes carts slings chains hoisting equipment hand measuring and marking tools and computer systems. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is highly mobile. This position is active and requires standing walking bending kneeling stooping crouching crawling reaching with hands and arms and climbing ladders daily. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls and to climb or employee must regularly lift move and carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times.
