We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Officer to join our Finance team in either our Mulgrave office in Melbourne or Salisbury office in this critical role you will be working with an AR peer managing a portfolio of customers and reporting directly to the CFO based in Brisbane. For the right candidate the role is full time 38 hr work week with an opportunity to work from home 1 day per week.
You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial health of Fire & Safety Australia by ensuring the timely and accurate collection of outstanding accounts receivable. This position requires a structured approach and contribute to the improvement of our internal and external policies and systems when there are better ways to do business. Experience in collections using procurement portals such as Ariba and experience in the complexities with large national company collections will be beneficial to the role.
What Youll Do
- Maintain the debtor ledger ensuring customer accounts are up to date overdue amounts are followed up on and remittances reconciled in a timely manner.
- Employ effective debt collection techniques through both phone calls and email communication to customers to recover outstanding payments.
- Collaborate with the wider Finance team to develop and refine processes to ensure increased efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the Sales Team and other departments in the follow up of Customer POs to reduce the delay in payments.
- Understand and support the key KPIs of the role and the AR function including calls and response times
- End of Month Procedures manage full function debt collection and account receivable end of month procedures. Assist with end-of-month tasks and duties to meet reporting deadlines.
- Assist with other finance tasks on a as need basis which include banking and invoicing.
What Youll Bring
- Strong data entry skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately while handling high volumes of transactions and tasks daily.
- Proven experience in full-cycle accounts receivable operations at least 3 years
- Good understanding of accounts receivable and financial reporting principles and practices.
- Knowledge of accounting software such as Xero. Intermediate to advanced knowledge with Excel is advantage and prior use of Salesforce (CRM) will also be advantageous
- Ability to work with team members across different functions supporting the overall goals of our company.
- Excellent customer service communication and time management skills.
- Very good problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask.
- Open to embracing change and demonstrate adaptability.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful partnerships.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
