The Department of Finance in the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenured position at the rank of Professor. The position carries an endowed chair for a distinguished candidate with an exceptional record of research excellence and leadership in the field of finance.
The position holder will demonstrate the ability to maintain an active high-quality research program that contributes to leading journals in finance and related fields demonstrate effectiveness in teaching provide leadership in advancing the departments research and academic reputation and fulfill normal service expectations.
This is a full-time 9-month appointment beginning August 16 2026. A later start date may also be considered. Initial review of applications will begin on November 15 2025 but applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.
This position is open to candidates eligible for employment sponsorship. At this time Iowa State University is unable to offer H-1B immigration sponsorship for candidates who do not currently hold H-1B status.
The position holder will conduct high-impact scholarly research suitable for publication in leading finance journals such as The Journal of Finance The Review of Financial Studies and The Journal of Financial Economics. The holder will also be expected to contribute to mentoring Ph.D. students and teaching finance-related courses at the Ph.D. level as well as undergraduate or Masters levels.
In addition the position holder is expected to play a key role in advancing the departments research reputation through collaboration mentorship and leadership helping to further enhance the departments national and international standing in finance research and education.
The appointment also carries the expectation of typical institutional and professional service for the rank of Professor.
Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field
An outstanding record of scholarship eligible for a tenured position at Iowa State University
An established and active record of publishing research in top-tier finance journals such as The Journal of Finance The Review of Financial Studies and The Journal of Financial Economics.
An influential scholarly reputation as evidenced by scholarly citations and service to the profession
An active research pipeline including papers targeted or invited for revision at premier journals
Experience in mentoring junior faculty and doctoral students
Experience as a full-time tenure track or tenured faculty member
A record of effective teaching of finance-related courses
