Job Summary

Your responsibilities

Join the team responsible for the vacuum systems of the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) the upgrade that will boost the performance of the worlds most powerful accelerator.

In this role you will contribute to the coordination of materials logistics and database support for all vacuum equipment involved in this major project.

Working across dedicated workshops laboratories and in the LHC tunnel area you will collaborate with students trainees experienced technicians and engineers in a highly motivating international environment.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Logistics coordination: Track materials and supplies ensuring timely reception unpacking and correct storage or delivery of incoming orders.
  • Database maintenance: Update and maintain the materials management system ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of stock levels orders and distribution.
  • Order management: Verify deliveries against purchase orders report discrepancies or delays and assist with the preparation of outgoing shipments when required.
  • User support: Act as the first point of contact for staff requiring materials or equipment assisting with locating reserving and issuing items.
  • Documentation and reporting: Prepare simple reports on stock usage order status and delivery follow-ups for supervisors.

Your profile

Skills:

  • Strong organisational skills reliability and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with basic office and database software (e.g. Excel) or a willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills for interacting effectively with colleagues and external suppliers.
  • Interest in logistics supply chain management or technical operations.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Spoken and written English or French with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Administrative or Office Management Logistics or Supply Chain Management (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants with a Bachelors Masters or PhD degree are not eligible.

Additional Information :

Job closing date: 05.11.2025 at 23:59 CET.

Contract duration: 24 months with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Target start date: 01-March-2026

This position involves:

  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
  • A valid driving licence.
  • Work during nights Sundays and official holidays when required by the needs of the Organisation.
