With over 130 years of experience navigating in some of the worlds most complex and difficult waters Seaspan Marine is the largest and most diverse tug & barge company on Canadas West Coast providing more than 2500 ship assist & escort services annually while our fleet of over 100 specialty and general-purpose barges provide critical transportation for many of BCs largest industries and major marine construction projects.

LNG is a leading transition fuel for the marine industry. As this market looks to greatly reduce its GHGs and other fine particulate matter it is imperative to mature the distribution network. Seaspan Energy Ltd. is building three bespoke LNG Bunker vessels with delivered scheduled for mid to late 2024. 2024 offers an opportunity for an operational minded senior student to gain experience as we transition to commercial operation. The foundation of this role is to prepare documentation and analysis required for each unique operation. The Intern Bunkering Operations is to assist with client information gathering AutoCAD sketches and subsequent mooring addition and depending on the candidates interests they will get exposure to support project management financial modelling and market role reports directly to Business Operations Manager.

Note: Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site based at10 Pemberton Avenue North Vancouver.

What youll do

  • Gather and manage technical information.
  • Create and update 2D drawings and sketches.
  • Conduct mooring analysis (with OPTIMOOR) for ship to ship and quayside operations to ensure safe and effective mooring procedures.
  • Provide and implement recommendations for optimizing mooring systems based on analysis results.
  • Work closely with engineering teams project managers and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions to share progress challenges and solutions.
  • Develop templates and procedures.
  • Support task tracking and documentation in MS Planner.

What youll bring

  • Enrollment in a Bachelors program in Engineering with a focus on Naval Architecture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD LT.
  • Experience with analytical software.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Monday January 12th 2026.

End Date of Internship: Friday May 1st 2026 (4-Months) or Friday August 28th 2026 (8-Months).
