About the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre

We are a client-centred organisation supporting the community throughout Barwon Wimmera and the South West regions offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence encompassing 24 hour crisis care specialist response services early intervention programs Victims Assistance Program Community Legal Services trauma recovery programs professional training and primary prevention initiatives.

About The Role

This role will oversee and provide high quality effective and efficient professional legal advice provide leadership to a high performing legal team and deliver casework services to women experiencing family violence.

Skills And Experiences

About You

With a degree or above legal qualification and minimum four years relevant experience we want to hear from you.

Your application must address the following that you will hold:

  • At least four years post admission experience.
  • A demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with others towards a trauma informed integrated legal practice.
  • Knowledge of relevant professional practice requirements as they relate to the operations of the legal service and to the position of Principal Lawyer.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading teams through change.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify appropriate law reform and policy issues and contribute to positive policy and law reform affecting our target client group.
  • Prior successful experience in mobilising and working with a volunteer legal workforce if appropriate.

The successful candidate will be required to maintain a current Victorian Principal Practicing Certificate enabling the holder to practice as a Principal of a law practice must be entered on the High Courts Register of Practitioners and have an entitlement to practice in federal courts and courts exercising federal jurisdiction current Working with Childrens Check and National Police Check at their own expense.

Period of Appointment

This position is ongoing subject to funding

Hours of work

  • The position is full time of part time 0.8
  • Location of the position is at the Warrnambool office or outreach location as required
  • Hours will usually be worked during business hours of 9.00am to 5.06 pm between Monday toFriday.
  • The days are based on the needs of the service.
  • Flexibility in working hours will be required from time to time as the need arises.

Salary and Conditions

Annual salary range is $134313 $144386.83 plus superannuation (pro rata for part time). Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.

Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.

Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.

Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with theSuperannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.

Probationary Period 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
