Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Assistant Deputy Director Programs Reentry and Rehabilitative Services directs and monitors all educational functions.
Directs all activities pertaining to educational operations of the Palmetto Unified School District (PUSD) within the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
Ensures inmates are provided quality academic instruction and varying vocational training opportunities preparing them for successful reentry into society.
Oversee academic instruction in nine (9) EFA high schools adult and vocational education in all institutions while expanding DOL certified apprenticeship programs across the agency.
Demonstrates effective and motivational management and leadership; represents the school district in the administration of all federal projects.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

(Or an acceptable equivalence as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

Possess South Carolina Department of Education Superintendent Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in public schools that must include classroom instruction and serving as a principal or in other supervisory positions.
Successful candidate must have a strong background in curriculum and instruction with experience in personnel planning and accountability; proficiency in organization and administration of short-term and long-term strategic planning
Strong communication skills cultivating effective team building fostering community partners as well as effective decision-making delegation and follow through.
