Job Information and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director Advancement Services the Advancement Officer - Prospect Research and Management will:

  • Identifies and qualifies via research gift levels of $10000-$5Million plus.
  • Populates and manages a Gift Range Table to ensure prospects are aligned with University Priorities for Fundraising.
  • Prioritizes and segments prospects through their involvement in activities and programs.
  • Assesses monitors and manages donor pipelines and points of engagement
  • Develops efficient prospect and suspect research management systems and processes ensuring effective procedures and protocols are in place.
  • Utilizes research information predictive analytics and data mining of prospects in order to maximize the impact of the data and information maintained in Prospect and Relationship Management areas of CRM Advance.
  • Leads develops and executes a centralized moves management system that coordinates the activities of Development Officers and Alumni Officers across the University to ensure maximum prospect/supporter involvement in the University. Oversees sponsorship at the University working with Athletics and Recreation Procurement and Facilities.
  • Using industry best practices proactively identifies researches and qualifies new prospects and suspects to support the Universitys major giving annual fund leadership and planned giving programs by researching and analyzing affiliation interest giving potential and propensity to donate to the funding priorities at the University.
  • Conducts detailed biographical corporate foundation and financial research for identified prospects using advanced online databases reference materials and other third party sources to determine net worth corporate and individual philanthropic capacity and interest in supporting the Universitys funding priorities and initiatives.
  • Develops plans processes and systems to integrate all forms of prospect information and ensures it is captured in the Prospect and Relationship Management areas of CRM Advance.
  • Datamines university database systems for information pertaining to the identification of new prospects and suspects.
  • Uses third party systems such as Sedar and others to determine shareholder value.

Experience and Education Requirements

To be the successful Advancement Officer - Prospect Research and Management you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree with research and analytical/statistical components. A MLIS degree would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum three years related experience.
  • Previous experience in a not-for-profit environment would be considered an asset.
  • Advanced research statistical computer and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Relational databases. Banner or CRM Advance experience an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Professional manner with a customer service orientation.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with strong attention to details.
  • Self-directed with a high level of initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to organize manage prioritize and multi-task a diverse range of projects with high efficiency in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising practices.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion.
