Technical Claim Director - Auto Major Case Unit
Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Claim Director to join a Auto Major Case Unit. This role involves managing high-exposure complex bodily injury claims across the United States with a focus on commercial transportation cases. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical litigation management and communication skills and will thrive in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
Compensation Package
- Base Salary Range: $130000 - $180000/year
- Bonus Opportunity: Up to 25% annual bonus
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of 65-75 high-exposure complex bodily injury claims with values ranging from $1M to $10M.
- Conduct thorough investigations evaluate claims and develop resolution strategies.
- Handle all aspects of litigation management including selecting and directing defense counsel.
- Draft and analyze complex coverage letters and address coverage issues.
- Represent the company in mediations and trials ensuring effective claim resolution.
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to address developments impacting product lines.
- Present cases to senior leadership articulating strategies and recommendations.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education:
- Bachelors degree in business administration insurance or a related field; or
- Juris Doctorate with relevant legal experience.
Experience:
- 8 years of experience in legal or insurance-related roles with a focus on commercial transportation claims; or
- 5 years of transportation/insurance defense experience with a Juris Doctorate.
- Proven expertise in handling high-exposure trucking bus and/or commercial auto bodily injury claims across multiple jurisdictions.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong investigative and strategic claim-handling skills.
- Superior knowledge of case law statutes and procedures related to commercial auto claims.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Innovative problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
