JOB SUMMARY:
As a vital part of Cincinnati Public Schools overall goal of supporting social emotional development for
each student the School Culture and Safety Social Worker is responsible for supporting Positive
Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) in assigned school(s). To this aim the School Culture and Safety
SW will serve as the building PBIS liaison between district administration and building staff ensuring
programs and resources are meeting expectations and that outcomes are consistently tracked. Services
will include consulting with PBIS teams ongoing coaching staff development implementing social
emotional learning programs ensuring program fidelity and collecting behavior data.
The overarching goal of this initiative is to decrease negative behavior incidents and increase student
engagement and achievement by creating a safe stable and supportive environment in which students
can excel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
4 year degree in Social Work or related field; MSW LSW preferred. Experience working in a
school setting.
PBIS training preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of mental health child mental health community resources working
with families in poverty working with diverse populations and trauma-informed care.
Experience implementing evidence-based social emotional programs with small groups of
students.
Willingness to embrace systems-level work in positive school culture practices.
Sound understanding behavioral data collection and assessment.
Ability to provide ongoing consultative support to school teams on PBIS.
REPORTS TO: School Culture and Safety Director
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serve as the liaison between district PBIS team and school teams. Works collaboratively with
district personnel building administration teachers parents and students.
Assist and support the implementation of PBIS through consultation ongoing coaching and
classroom support.
Support coordinate and provide staff training related to social-emotional learning classroom
management and anti-bullying through formal trainings team meetings written communications
and ad hoc conversations.
Implement an evidence-based social emotional learning curriculum with small groups of students.
Schedule classroom observation and consultation visits at a frequency based upon the needs of
the classroom and program in order to ensure PBIS fidelity.
Implements systems to share and track information.
Furthers professional growth by seeking feedback reflecting on and assessing own practice.
Demonstrates the ability to relate to persons with diverse educational socio-economic and ethnic
background and demonstrates ability to share information objectively and non-judgmentally.
Performs other duties as assigned to assist in providing services to children and families.
Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.

Communicate in an effective and timely manner.
Adapt to handle stressful situations.
Establish positive relationships among stakeholders.
Ability to be flexible with daily schedules and responsibilities.
