  • Located at the E.C. Andrews Drill Core Facility in Broken Hill NSW

The Geological Survey of NSW (part of NSW Resources) is seeking a motivated and skilled Geoscientist (Geologist) to supervise and manage the E.C. Andrews Drill Core Facility in Broken Hill.

About the Role:

As the Geologist Broken Hill Drill Core Facility your role will be more than just geoscience. Youll be responsible for overseeing facility operations including core preparation viewing visitor access and general maintenance.

Youll also be responsible for:

  • Supervising and managing the archival drill core collection ensuring its preservation and accessibility.
  • Liaising with industry landholders government agencies and the community to deliver high-quality technical services and advice.
  • Providing geoscientific expertise to support exploration programs and collaborate with other geoscientists.
  • Undertaking scientific investigations including mapping and sampling.

What Were Looking For

To be successful in this role youll need tertiary qualifications in geoscience (or equivalent) combined with demonstrable knowledge of NSW geology and mineral resources (Broken Hill regional expertise highly regarded).

Youll also need:

  • A current Class C drivers licence.
  • A current forklift licence (or the willingness and ability to obtain one).
  • The willingness and ability to undertake field work in remote areas.
  • Advanced computer skills including GIS and database management.
  • Experience with drill core handling logging rehabilitation and/or archiving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
