An opportunity has arisen to recruit through the lateral movers process to the post of Bibliographic Services Co-ordinator in Birmingham Library Service. The role is key to the effective and efficient operations of the library management system Spydus the management of partner & supplier relationships and the procurement of books magazines and other associated services.
You will lead a team of two senior Bibliographic Assistants working closely with the Library Service Manager: Reader Services. You will liaise with library colleague across the citys service and at all levels. Experience and/or knowledge of frontline library servicesof cataloguing & classification systems of financial systems & practices in local government of coordinating quality checks and the wider context of library & information services will be extremely advantageous. We are looking for someone with the ability to problem-solve to act flexibly to be thorough and to be confident with IT systems including BCC procurement.
The job role is based at The Library of Birmingham and will include some occasional duties directly supporting the frontline customer facing service including acting as a Duty Manager. There is some scope for homeworking however regular on-site working and contact is essential.
We would anticipate a period of hand-over with the current post holder. We estimate a hand-over period to be between 2 and 4 weeks depending on your most recent experience. The hand-over period would need the cooperation and agreement of your current service and line manager.
