Job Summary

Hypercoat Downing Ltd. is seeking an experienced Shipping Supervisor to lead and manage our shipping and receiving department. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills hands-on logistics experience and a solid understanding of Dangerous Goods regulations as most of our materials are paints coatings and chemicals.

This role oversees a team of 5 6 employees in a 20000 sq. ft. warehouse with three shipping docks ensuring safe compliant and efficient handling of all incoming and outgoing goods.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise daily shipping and receiving operations ensuring accuracy efficiency and compliance with regulations.
Lead a team of 5 6 employees providing training direction and performance management.
Oversee the packaging labeling and documentation of hazardous materials and dangerous goods shipments.
Ensure compliance with TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) WHMIS and other applicable safety standards.
Coordinate shipments with couriers freight companies and trucking services ensuring on-time delivery.
Manage and optimize use of tow motors material handling equipment and dock operations.
Verify shipping documents BOLs and inventory records for accuracy.
Collaborate with production inventory control and purchasing teams to streamline logistics flow.
Maintain a clean organized and safe warehouse environment in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Identify opportunities for process improvements in shipping and receiving efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum 5 years of experience in shipping receiving or warehouse supervision ideally in an industrial or chemical manufacturing environment.
Proven leadership and team management experience.
Strong knowledge of Dangerous Goods handling labeling and documentation.
Familiarity with paint coating or chemical materials considered a strong asset.
Experience with tow motors pallet jacks and material handling equipment.
Understanding of courier and trucking logistics packaging requirements and legal shipping documentation.
Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail and safety.
Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
