Job Summary

A thriving Ofsted Good secondary school in Gloucester is seeking a Design & Technology ECT to join their innovative and forward-thinking Technology Department from January 2026.

About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across KS3KS5 with a focus on Resistant Materials Product Design or Engineering depending on specialism. They will design engaging lessons that combine creativity sustainability and technical precision helping students understand how design impacts modern life.

ECTs are given full induction support with access to mentoring collaborative planning time and bespoke CPD sessions focused on lesson structure assessment and workshop safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver imaginative and practical lessons in DT using both traditional and digital tools.

  • Promote innovation and problem-solving through project-based learning.

  • Support coursework and exam preparation at KS4/KS5.

  • Maintain excellent health and safety standards in workshops.

  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as robotics or design competitions.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop new resources and share ideas.

The DT Department is equipped with modern workshops 3D printers laser cutters and CAD/CAM facilities enabling students to develop high-quality prototypes. Experience and Qualifications

  • QTS/PGCE in Design & Technology or Engineering.

  • Strong technical and creative design background.

  • Passion for innovation and sustainability in design education.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
