Overview
The Director of Tax will oversee the Companys tax compliance tax reporting and planning and accounting for income taxes. The successful candidate will work with businesses service providers and other tax professionals in carrying out his or her responsibilities. He or she will work with financial management within the Company and third party service providers. The ideal person will be hands on analytically strong with excellent and direct communication skills. The right candidate will have advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the corporate year end and quarter close process for income taxes (ASC 740) including ASC(formerly FIN 48) documentation and analysis.
- Preparation and/or review of tax disclosures in all SEC and other external reports.
- Review federal state local and partnership returns.
- Review estimated tax payments.
- Monitor and review tax legislation to assess applicability to the Company.
- Provide leadership and development of staff.
- Develop tax strategy goals and objectives for the tax function. Oversee development and maintenance of Tax Department policies and procedures in connection with this strategy.
- Build and maintain relationships within the Finance groups as well as throughout the organization to help facilitate timely and accurate tax compliance reporting and execution of tax strategy.
- Identify tax risk areas and work with other functional areas to ensure appropriate steps are taken to minimize tax risk.
- Provide ongoing support to Accounting Projects & Planning and the Vice President Tax related to tax planning and strategy.
- Assist with miscellaneous projects and reports as requested.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors Degree (B.S.) in Accounting.
- Ten years of related experience with at least 5 years in a public accounting firm.
- Superior analytical problem-solving and data-gathering and analysis skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.
- Superior attention to detail accuracy and multiple-task prioritization in a fast-paced environment and within exacting time constraints.
- Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment
- Demonstrated understanding of business implications of key actions and decisions as they relate to tax strategy.
- Strong team player who generates enthusiasm collaboration credibility and commitment
- Excellent tax research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office and EXCEL.
Preferred:
- Masters Degree in Business Taxation preferred.
- JD and/or CPA preferred.
