The Post Anesthesia Care Units at MGH are comprised of 7 individual critical care areas dedicated to the care of adult and pediatric patients preceding and immediately following surgery and/or procedures requiring anesthesia. Highly experienced diverse & supportive group of critical care clinicians in a dynamic multi-specialty surgical environment with room to learn and grow.
We currently have exciting opportunities for Advanced Practice Providers to work in our PACU.
We are looking for full-time staff with a schedule of 40 hours per week comprised of 13-hour day/evening shifts. We offer limited Saturday rotation (every 12 weeks); No holiday rotation or overnights.
Unfortunately no new Grads.
Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 2 years critical care or acute care NP or PA experience required.
Critical care appropriate thinking and clinical judgment skills.
Licensure Certifications or Registration:
Current active licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Certified Nurse Practitioner or as a Physician Assistant
Certification from a national certifying body acceptable to the Board of Registration in Nursing as an adult/family/or acute care nurse practitioner or
Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients medical and/or surgical including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties such as precepting a small group of learners.
Essential Functions
Provides direct care counseling and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory inpatient operative and/or procedural setting.
Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
Orders interprets and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic laboratory and physical examination findings.
Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes procedure notes operative notes and discharge summaries.
Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
