About the role

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager the Accounts Officer will assist in managing the day-to-day financial records of the firm. They will be responsible for processing all office expenses and matter disbursements in the finance system and raising the relevant payments in the bank. They will also be responsible for performing bank reconciliations resolving discrepancies and generating financial reports for the team when required.

This is a full time position based on a hybrid model with three days per week in our office and two days working from home.

Responsibilities

  • Entering invoices and payments into the finance system (Aderant)
  • Responsible for the finance team inbox including responding to emails and resolving queries
  • Processing payments (both office expenses and matter disbursements)
  • Preparing payment runs for approval using the firms banking portal.
  • Filing and maintaining supplier records
  • Reconciliation of invoice receipts to ensure bills and their corresponding disbursement payments are accounted for and properly recorded
  • Credit card and bank account reconciliation
  • Daily banking (including receipting)
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • Posting inter-company journals to bring loan accounts to balance.
  • Perform manual journals in accounts
  • Provide assistance with month end management reporting.
  • Assistance with the preparation of bills when required
  • Reconcile narrate and check GST components on employee expense reimbursements.
  • Reconciliation of prepayments accruals & fixed asset expenditure.
  • Assisting the Matter Accounts Manager with ad hoc tasks from time to time
  • Ad-hoc tasks/projects as required including business or litigation-related tasks


Skills And Experiences

About You

To be successful in this role you will have a Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in finance accounting or a minimum of three years working experience in a similar role.

You will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to think independently and offer solutions to challenges as they arise. This includes using your accounting knowledge and experience to improve and develop processes within the Finance Team.

You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills high attention to detail advanced excel skills and a willingness to go the extra mile to achieve business outcomes.

In addition to this you will have strong organisation time management and data entry skills and a knack for numbers.
