DescriptionJob Summary
The Defect Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end defect management process across projects or application landscapes. This role ensures that all identified defects are properly recorded categorized prioritized tracked and resolved according to defined standards and timelines. The Defect Manager collaborates with QA teams developers business analysts and project managers to maintain software quality and minimize defect leakage.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the full defect lifecycle from logging and triaging through resolution and closure.
- Conduct regular defect triage meetings involving QA development and business teams.
- Track defect metrics (e.g. open/closed rate severity levels aging) and publish dashboards/reports.
- Ensure defects are properly prioritized and resolved as per agreed SLA timelines.
- Coordinate across development QA and UAT teams for defect root cause analysis and revalidation.
- Establish and enforce defect governance standards across teams and projects.
- Support continuous improvement through defect trend analysis and lessons learned sessions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in QA defect management or testing roles.
- 7 years of experience in Quality Assurance defect management or testing roles preferably in telecom (B2B services postpaid systems etc.) or cloud-based platforms.
- Strong understanding of BSS/OSS ecosystems including CRM billing charging mediation product catalog and order orchestration.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
- Experience with defect management tools (e.g. JIRA HP ALM Bugzilla).
- Excellent communication coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to analyze trends and recommend process improvements.
