Job Title: Nuclear Facility Integration Lead - Submarines

Working location: Raynesway Derby

Grade: 8-10

We are looking for a Nuclear Facility Integration Lead to join the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business. This engineering role is an important part of a once in a lifetime major infrastructure programme replacing the current facilities on a Nuclear Licensed Site with modern state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities. It would be ideal for someone who wants to progress into engineering management.

Our Submarines Business is responsible for the design manufacture supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navys submarine fleet. We support the Royal Navy as the Technical Authority for all UK Naval Reactor Submarine Plants and were continuing to build our nuclear sector capability to support the development of a new nuclear plant for future submarines.

The function of this role is to technically co-ordinate the facility design is optimised consistent and maturing at the correct pace. This will require the ability to understand diverse technical topics deal with ambiguity and communicate with varied stakeholders both internal and external to the business. The ideal candidate will be able have both a strong technical background as well as effective soft skills. You will be working across multiple disciplines and lifecycle stages to ensure that the areas under your responsibility meet both our engineering and project requirements.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office home or another remote location. Its a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum were all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

  • Defining prioritising and co-ordinating the completion of technical decisions.
  • The provision of technical information and responses relating to facility-level integration to design and construction partners.
  • Supporting the proportionate governance of relevant technical artefacts.
  • Following a systems engineering approach to ensure that we have a comprehensive and traceable set of verifiable requirements.
  • The maturity and consistency of interfaces between systems are managed in an effective manner.
  • Working the project management to ensure a valid facility schedule including the required engineering tasks resource and decisions.
  • Identifying producing and regularly reporting key engineering metrics to the engineering manager.
  • Working with safety and environmental engineers to ensure that the development of the facility designs supports their required regulatory milestones.
  • Ensuring that technical subject matter experts are fully engaged and their work is fully captured in the overall facility schedule.
  • Provide technical co-ordination of input into enabling works.

  • You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a STEM subject and with experience in a relevant highly-regulated engineering environment.
  • You will also be a Chartered Engineer or hold an affiliate/associate membership of a relevant professional body or be working towards Chartered/Incorporated status.
  • You should be able to demonstrate multi-disciplinary knowledge of a wide breadth of engineering topics relevant to methods techniques and best practice relating to civil mechanical process and electrical engineering for nuclear or other complex manufacturing facilities.
  • Understanding of the safety and environmental considerations for nuclear or other highly-regulated industries.
  • You should be able to demonstrate an ability to deliver projects successfully.
  • Experience of multiple stages within the engineering lifecycle is advantageous.
  • Experience of working with the supply chain and contractors is beneficial.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place.

Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individualswho are a UK national or in MoD approved cases a dual national.
