About the role Kō tēnei tūranga mahi
Were looking for a proactive and capable Emergency Management Adviser to join our Civil Defense Emergency Management (CDEM) team on a 7 month Fixed Term to cover parental this role youll take the lead in developing coordinating and delivering key emergency management portfolios across the Nelson Tasman region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate emergency management portfolios pertaining to readiness and response.
- Provide operational leadership and coordination during emergency events through the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners - including councils agencies iwi community groups and volunteers.
- Lead work to ensure the operational readiness of key response facilities technology and equipment including both Group and Local Emergency Operation Centres
- Maintain oversight of and coordinate Lifeline Utility and Critical Infrastructure workstreams
- Represent the organisation through committees presentations and public engagement.
About you Ko ngā pūmanawa ō
Youre an experienced and collaborative professional who thrives on variety and responsibility. You bring strong leadership strategic thinking technical and communication skills - and youre calm and confident under pressure. You enjoy working across agencies building partnerships and inspiring others to prepare for the unexpected.
Youll also have:
- Experience in emergency management or a related sector (health social services etc.)
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement experience
- Proven ability to plan and deliver complex regional projects or programmes
- Confident communication and public speaking skills
- The resilience flexibility and composure needed to operate in rapidly changing environments
- A tertiary qualification in Emergency Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
