Lead Estimator Groundworks & Civil Engineering
Location: Norwich (Head Office based)
Salary: per annum (DOE)
Hours: Full-time 41.5 hours per week (MondayFriday)
Our client a respected name in the groundworks and civil engineering sector is looking to appoint a Lead Estimator to join their commercial team in Norwich. This is a key role at the heart of their operations working closely with Production and Commercial departments on projects from initial cost planning through to final tender submissions.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and detail-focused Estimator who is confident in client-facing situations and motivated to progress within a supportive professional environment.
The Role
Prepare estimates from site visits architectural drawings and specifications
Maintain a detailed cost database to support accurate cost planning
Obtain quotations and guide prices for specialist works
Carry out manual and digital take-offs for roads sewers foundations and external works
Research material transport labour and equipment costs
Produce and submit quotations and cost analysis reports
Build and sustain strong relationships with clients subcontractors and suppliers
Confidently present bids at client meetings
Support and mentor Assistant Estimators within the team
Provide ad hoc support to the Small Works team
About You
Essential:
Strong numeracy and analytical skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organised with great attention to detail
Able to manage and prioritise a varied workload under pressure
Professional positive and self-motivated
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
Previous experience within residential construction or civils
Knowledge of construction techniques and materials
Ability to interpret architectural and engineering plans
Experience mentoring junior colleagues
Comfortable in client-facing environments
Qualifications:
Essential: GCSEs (AC / 59) in Maths English and ICT
Desirable: HND/HNC or higher in Civils/Engineering/Construction (training can be provided for the right candidate)
