Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CVIS Tech) plays a key role in assisting physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures within the catheterization and electrophysiology labs. Under general supervision this role is responsible for the preparation and operation of specialized equipment direct patient care before during and after procedures and ensuring high-quality clinical outcomes in a safe environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist physicians in diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization and electrophysiology procedures.
- Prepare examination rooms equipment and instruments prior to procedures.
- Educate prepare and position patients for cardiovascular procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs and hemodynamic status during procedures.
- Operate imaging and monitoring equipment as required.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures and patient data.
- Provide both routine and emergency patient care under physician supervision.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and patient safety standards.
- Perform daily monthly or quarterly quality control audits and support performance improvement initiatives.
- Participate in call rotation and respond to emergent cases when needed.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of lab supplies and devices.
- Support training and orientation for new staff or students in the department.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Associates Degree
OR - Minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience above the entry-level requirement.
Experience
- Less than 1 year of experience required in a cardiovascular or electrophysiology lab setting.
Certifications & Licensure
The following certifications must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer:
- BLS Basic Life Support
- ACLS Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
Must hold one of the following professional credentials (active and in good standing):
- ARRT-R (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Radiography) AND Texas MRT (Medical Radiologic Technologist) license
OR - RCIS Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
OR - RCES Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
OR - CEPS Certified Electrophysiology Specialist
OR - CCDS Certified Cardiac Device Specialist
