As an Open Source Engineer you will play a pivotal role in developing maintaining and contributing to open source projects that are critical to our technology stack and used by the global developer community. You will work closely with other engineers product managers and the community to build scalable high-quality software solutions promote open source best practices and ensure the sustainability of our open source initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Design develop and maintain open source software components and libraries.
Collaborate with internal teams and the external open source community on code reviews feature requests and bug reports.
Write clear maintainable and well-documented code.
Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
Advocate for open source adoption and best practices within the organization.
Ensure compliance with open source licensing and governance.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as needed.
Contribute to the documentation tutorials and guides for community use.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of professional experience in software engineering preferably with significant open source contributions.
Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python JavaScript Go C) and familiarity with multiple development environments.
Experience with distributed version control systems (e.g. Git).
Strong understanding of open source licenses governance and community engagement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Hourly Pay Rate: $60 to $90 per hour Depending on experience.
