Job Description

Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Clerk/Stocking

Summary: Verifies and keeps records of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

Shipping & Receiving Clerk I – All of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below would be expected for an employee to perform with guidance and training during the first few years of employment.

Shipping & Receiving Clerk II – All of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below would be expected for an employee to perform at a confident proficient level in 2 or more years of experience. This would include completing all job responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Regular and punctual attendance is required
  • Overtime hours may be required if needed
  • Restock supplies for production areas shipping/receiving
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory supplies including solvents grinding compounds acetone etc. for production areas
  • Performing frequent cycle counting (monthly)
  • Compares identifying information and counts weighs or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading invoices shipping schedule or other records.
  • Determines method of shipment according to customer request or supervisor instructions.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Assembles cardboard containers.
  • Inserts items into containers. Packages products according to standard procedures or customer request.
  • Binds containers with tape.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments rejects damaged items records shortages and corresponds with customer service to rectify damages and blanks in the appropriate location.
  • Routes items to specific departments.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies that are located in shipping/receiving area.
  • As needed enters information from the inspection worksheets daily into a data base.
  • Utilizes the Fed Ex and UPS computer software to ship packages.
  • Verifies documentation that is required by the customer is sent with the parts.
  • Prints shippers for parts being shipped.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals will be able to use calculator.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully an individual should have basic computer skills.

While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit and use hands to finger handle or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

If driving is required - This position is designated as a safety sensitive position because a person working in this position under the influence of drugs or alcohol including medical marijuana may constitute a threat to health or safety which includes but is not limited to working with hazardous or flammable materials operating repairing maintaining or monitoring machinery or motor vehicles.
