Senior Software Development Engineer, Special Projects

This role is part of an Amazon team focused on building new large-scale solutions aimed at creating positive impact in the world. This team thinks big across a wide range of industries and topics to create launch and manage products such as Amazon Care Comprehend Medical Echo Frames and Amazon Glow. As an Senior Software Development Engineer youll be a key technical contributor who combines strong engineering expertise with excellent judgment and execution skills. Youll develop critical architecture components influence technical direction and help raise the bar for engineering excellence. - 5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- 4 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team

- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- 7 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- -Extensive use of AI dev tools across the SDLC from design through testing
- -Experience using vibe coding / agentic AI to support code development
- -Experience communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences including executives

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
