POSITION SUMMARY:This person will partner with their Senior Technical Designer and patternmakers to translate designs vision into a finished product. They will be assigned their own product and will be involved in fitting and communicating the outcome using both visual and verbal communication via tech packs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize and prioritize daily workload of assignedproducttomaintainproduction calendar
Monitor andmaintainfit construction and workmanship standards for your product category and ensure consistency across all factories.
Develop and create technical design packages to communicate requirements to achieve Design aesthetic fit and construction.
Fitting Preparation: Measure evaluate fit samplesubmit(construction execution). This will also include having the complete style history to be presented in the fitting.
You will conduct your product category fitting with the support of the Sr. Technical Designer
Analyze and communicate the outcome of fitting with internal cross functions as well as the factory
Communicate with vendorsregardingfit specs gradingissuesand construction via fit comments
Works closely with Senior Technical Designer/Technical Designer to advance technical knowledge and to elevate the quality of the product.
REQUIREMENTS:
4-Year College Degree: Preferred with training in Technical Design
2-3 years in the apparel industry in technical design and/or pattern making
Product focus should be a balance of cut and sew and woven; exposure should consist of but not be limited to Tops - Blouses Dresses Skirts
Strong basic understanding offit balance and garment construction and fabric reaction
Able to work with quarter scale and/orfull scalepatterns communicating fit corrections
Computer:Proficiencyin MS office (Excel/Word/Outlook) Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)
Driven by the technical aspect of the design process

Knowledgeable about fabric construction draping basics of grading and pattern making

Able to work under tight deadlines and prioritize/manage workload

$75000-85000base salary (This rangerepresentsthe low and high end of theanticipatedbase salary range for this NY - based position. The base salary will depend onnumerousfactorssuch as:experience and qualifications for the role experience level skillset and balancing internal equityrelativeto other AO employees.)
