This position requires strong leadership strategic vision and a deep understanding of healthcare and information technology.
Responsibilities- Implementation of Natus EEG Systems:
- Spearheading the implementation Natus EEG System within the epilepsy services and the integration with the IT infrastructure of the Mount Sinai Health System
- Collaborating with relevant stakeholders (clinical staff hospital IT teams and Natus representatives) to ensure smooth deployment and utilization of these systems.
- Providing training and support to clinical staff on effectively using Natus EEG systems and enhancing patient care and diagnostic capabilities.
- Continuing education and certification by ABRET of the EEG technologists:
- Organizing continuing education programs for staff members involved in epilepsy services to ensure that the team stays updated with the latest advancements and best practices in the field.
- Facilitating certification of the EEG technologists by ABRET (American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists)
- Maintaining high standards of competency and quality of the EEG services in the system
- System-Wide Policies and Planning:
- Developing and implementing system-wide policies and procedures related to EEG monitoring data collection and analysis.
- Ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices to optimize epilepsy service delivery.
- Keeping Inventory of equipment and end-of-life/warranty dates
- Recruitment oversight and FTE oversight for adequate operations at MSH and other sites
- Enrollment and upkeep of certifications for MSH and other sites
- Pruning and maintaining the Natus database working on archiving data to keep all recordings less than six months at all sites
- Monitoring Bi-weekly archiving of studies at all sites
- Accreditation of Epilepsy Services (ABRET and NAEC):
- Leading efforts to achieve and maintain accreditation from organizations like the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) and the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC).
- Overseeing compliance with accreditation requirements and standards.
- Data Storage and Management:
- Establishing protocols for analysis of EEG Data by Persyst protocols of EEG clipping and pruning secure storage and retrieval of EEG data.
- Implementing strategies to ensure data integrity privacy and accessibility in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- IT Collaboration and Oversight:
- Collaborating with IT teams to optimize the integration of EEG systems with existing healthcare IT infrastructure.
- Overseeing scheduled performance testing of the Natus EEG system and IT supporting IT infrastructure.
- Overseeing regular maintenance and safety checking of the Natus EEG system.
- Overseeing IT projects related to epilepsy services such as system hardware and software upgrades new software integrations and interoperability.
- Quarterly performance testing for EEG testing
- IT Security and HIPAA Compliance:
- Ensuring IT security measures are in place to protect patient data and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Conducting regular audits and assessments to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
- Personnel and Staffing:
- Staffing Needs: Work closely with hospital administration to assess the staffing needs for epilepsy services including neurologists nurses EEG technicians and support staff.
- Recruitment and Hiring: Collaborate on recruitment strategies job descriptions and hiring processes to ensure the right talent is brought on board.
- Training and Development: Implement training programs and continuous education initiatives to enhance staff skills and keep them updated with the latest developments in epilepsy care.
- Budget Management:
- Resource Allocation: Analyze budget requirements for epilepsy services including equipment and personnel costs.
- Financial Planning: Work with hospital administration to develop annual budgets and forecasts for epilepsy services personnel equipment and support expenses ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
- Cost Control: Monitor expenditures and identify areas for cost savings or optimization without compromising patient care standards.
- Continuous Learning and Development:
- Stay abreast of advancements in both epilepsy care and healthcare IT.
- Lead initiatives to optimize workflows and enhance efficiency in epilepsy diagnosis and treatment processes through technology.
- Solicit feedback from clinicians and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and implement technology-driven solutions.
- Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in relevant areas.
Qualifications- Associates Degree (Minimum Requirement) Bachelors Preferred
- 5 years experience as a lead tech with 2-3 years of managerial experience overseeing techs and schedules
